Associate Membership

Policy for Associate Membership Leading to Full Membership (2025)

The College of Foot Health (CoFH) offers a structured pathway for current Foot Health Practitioners (FHPs) to progress from Associate Membership of the College of Foot Health to Full Membership.

Eligibility for Associate Membership

To be considered for Associate Membership, applicants must:

1.Meet the following criteria regarding past training and qualifications:

    • Have qualified as a Foot Health Practitioner on a course that provided a minimum of 10 days practical clinical training.
    • Have been in insured practice for a minimum of 2 consecutive years

            2. Successfully complete the following online academic requirements:

                • Complete 3 online modules: Functional Anatomy, Essentials In Podiatric Medicine, Assessment & Diagnosis. A course book will be provided for your learning.
                • Achieve a minimum pass mark of 85% in all three modules.

                3. Undertake a day of practical clinical observation and assessment at an approved clinical location under the supervision of a qualified College of Foot Health Tutor.

                • Pay a fee of £600 (2025 rate). This fee includes the annual membership fee for Associate Membership.
                • Undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to ensure suitability for working in healthcare.

                Awarding of Associate Membership (ACFH)

                Applicants who meet the above criteria will be granted Associate Membership, without further payment  for a period of 12 months. During their twelve months as Associate, they must complete a minimum of 10 Hours of CPD learning and submit a statement of the CPD performed during their twelve months as Associate  before progression to full membership will be approved as below. Associates will be eligible to apply for professional indemnity insurance via the Institute of Podiatrists approved indemnity scheme for Foot Health Professionals

                Progression to Full Membership (MCFH)

                Subject to satisfactory completion of their twelve months as an  Associate Member they will be eligible for  Full Membership of the College of Foot Health.

                This structured approach ensures that all members meet the high standards of knowledge, skills, and professional practice required by the College of Foot Health and its supervising body the Institute of Podiatrists, before obtaining full membership status.

                MCFH members may, should they so choose, enrol on the advanced practice program leading to MCFH HDip  Award.
